Calling all adopted dogs for photo shoot!!
Did you adopt your dog from a Brooklyn shelter or rescue organization?
I am working on a photo project featuring these lucky dogs in an effort to raise public awareness. The images will be used on the walls of a new gourmet hot dog shop opening in the next few months on 5th Ave between 4 & 5th streets. I would need about 20 minutes of your time in either Prospect Park, or J J Bryant Park…those two great doggie play spots. Will give you a fabulous print of your dog, plus the gift of a hot dog squeaky toy, bedsides my eternal gratitude. My work can be viewed HERE.
Please join me. And thank you for adopting!
K.C. Bailey
(NYCityPets Note: K.C. will be taking photographs for the next 3 months on the weekends, weather permitting.)

From the NY Post. The NYPD shot a muzzled and leashed Pit Bull in Bed-Stuy three years ago. The family has been awarded $25,000 in damages. What a sad story.

Where are the NYC cat websites?
In Brooklyn, there is a Cat Meetup Here.
In Harlem, there are cats outside going for walks, says HarlemFur.
Outside of the Museum of Natural History, you can find this cat:![]()
But where is UrbanKitty (and we do not mean this one) hiding? Or NYCat?
If you know, send NYCityPets the link!

Intro 13 is a second attempt to keep pets in NYC housing. The first bill, Intro 189 from 2004, would have forced rentals, co-ops, and condos to allow new pets in multiple unit dwellings if tenants were replacing deceased pets. Intro 13 only pertains to rentals because the co-op/condo lobby is powerful in this day of ridiculously high market values of real estate.
Here are the city council members who are not co-sponsoring this bill:
**Notice that the same council member that wants to ban bully breeds in NYC has not signed onto Intro 13. Councilman Vallone Jr., do you have something against dogs?**

Rational Animal is an NYC media organization. Susan Brandt founded this all-volunteer organization in 2002. They create promotional campaigns that help people understand the problems animals face today. Past projects include:
• Television commercials to promote spay/neuter
• Trails to Tails Map-the animal adoption map of NYC (includes dog parks too!)
• A video for the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals to show the cultural change to No-Kill shelters.
• Gingerbread Homes for Animals annual holiday event
• Orange ribbon awareness campaign for homeless animals
NYCityPets helped out during the Gingerbread Homes event last December in Central Park. We think that Rational Animal does great work, so check them out.

NYCityPets is visiting Ithaca, NY today for the conference to create Dog Friendly Communities. Currently, park goers have to break the law to run their dogs without leashes in Ithaca. Conference organizers hope to gain momentum on the dog park movement today. The larger goal of today will be to establish an organization to assist dog owner groups (you know, the people who volunteer to clean poop out of dog parks). If you want to help make your community more dog friendly, then stay tuned.
Today’s cold, rainy weather makes it a great day to hole up and talk about dogs.

Have you tried the Dog-Powered Scooter yet? Please let NYCityPets know how you like it. We are interested, since this urban dogsled is touted as “…A combination of adrenaline, pleasure, and exorcise”.
Is your dog a little devil? Maybe you should check out this scooter.
