The birthday party last Sunday for Lenny the pug was a lot of fun and Animal Haven surely benefits every year as Lenny’s celebration gets bigger and better! We won the “Big Dog” raffle basket (including a new squeaky kong toy), ate a burrito, and took home a goody bag full of snacks that the pooch really loves! Thanks, Lenny and friends. See you next year!

Lenny is going to be 2-years-young on April 1st and he’s throwing a birthday bash to celebrate.
Animal Haven will receive proceeds from this party and friendly dogs are invited to boogie down.
If you haven’t had the pleasure to meet Lenny, he is a member of the Pug Meetup Group and is a local celebrity dog who spreads good cheer with his birthdays and website (where you can nab some fun stuff like Lenny stamps and luxuries for your dogs while supporting animal rescue at the same time).
If you think that Lenny has a full plate, think again. He also does party planning and consulting on the side when he’s not trying to help his homeless friends.

The Knit-along project is complete. Although it is a little snug, a few more buttons on top should close up the holes and provide support. The pattern came from Doggy Knits, by Anna Tillman, and the yarn came from local yarn purveyor, Stitch Therapy. She doesn’t seem to mind whether it is on her or not. We’ll take that as approval!

In case you really want to indulge with your pooch today, go ahead and get some Happy Tail Ale or Kwispelbier (non-alcoholic pooch brews). Otherwise, just give him a carrot and he’ll be just as happy!

Tom over at Poop City Atomische passed along the word that there is a pet food recall in effect for several brands made by Menu Foods and sold between December and March for both dog and cat foods. The contaminated food may cause kidney failure. Take a minute and make sure you aren’t feeding any of the recalled foods now by visiting the link or calling (866) 895-2708.
